" The Bonanova Church "

Photobucket

This holy church is an off beaten path along the Sarria neighborhood
and was part of our Red- BusTouristic ride, which proved to be helpful if
you want to see the other side of BCN.

( with the inscriptions of 'Ave gracia plena dominus'- Hail Mary full of Grace )
Photobucket

It took me awhile to find the name and finally in "Wiki",
sometimes I don't understand why I even bother searching
for structures that may seem pointless to other people. ^0^

Photobucket

While the bus was moving,
I saw a white winged headdress flapped in the breeze,
this pious nun must be heading somewhere.

" Beaubourg and its environs "

Beaubourg is a neighborhood too close to Le Marais and almost near Les Halles,
But don't get confused by them, each of this area is different from the other.
Le Mararis can be chic and Les Halles, where you'd find things cheap.
Beaubourg on the other hand, will always be known for its colorful Pompidou Center.

But little did we know that before 1970, this quarter was dominated by a church that
has a history that dates back 16th century,
It is the Eglise St. Merri, or « Paroisse Saint Merri » as they call it.

Not much information could be found in the internet though.
Although small in its size, it has this flamboyant inspired Gothic architecture and
holds the oldest church bell in Paris, too bad I wasn't able to capture its exteriors though.

Photobucket

Unlike most churches in Paris,
this is a bit rundown and constantly under renovation,
its exteriors were way more darker than most churches i've visited,
or maybe it's already night time when we were there.

For the love of me, I couldn't remember how we got here,
but that's the beauty of wandering,
you suddenly stumbled something interesting.
It is located on the corner of Rue de la Verrerie and Rue St, Martin.

Photobucket

It's also beside the famous fontaine Stravinsky and a few walks from Pompidou.
we were there during the christmas holidays and saw this absorbing photo exhibition
on the right wing.
some of those mind blowing photos:

This one has got to be my favorite,
it reminds me simply of Hongkong ( a city I miss badly ).

If you're planning to take a visit,
it's best to do it during the day, and there are quite a few shops that sells trinkets and souvenirs
around the area.

" Notre Dame "

Paris is flickering with lights shimmering in gold.
At night, one of the finest structure that is Notre Dame
is as beautiful as it is during the day.
Undeniably, a church that is 'toujours' (always) filled with tourists,
next to La tour Eiffel.
From afar, the church's facade is a perfect example of Gothic architecture,
what was once considered as barbaric.
More of this on my future post. ^0^

" Plaza de A. Garriga I Bachs "

From Plaça Nova, head towards Pl. de Garriga i Bachs.

Photobucket

It is a small quiet plaza where you'd find five heroic statues of 1809, dedicated to them.

Photobucket

According to a travel book :
they were those who attempted to take Monjüic Castle from
the Napoleonic occupiers; three hid in the cathedral organ for days before
they were caught and hanged.
In this dusty plaça, were also a row of charming sepia painted tile works.

You could catch street performers during the night, but with not much ample lighting,
this street can be quite dark though.
